Capitol Kickline is the Central Pennsylvania initiative for National Dance Week, sponsored and supported by The Greater Harrisburg Arts Council (GHAC) for the Tenth Anniversary year. At 12:00 p.m. on April 27, 2008 participants will gather on the steps of the Capitol Rotunda where, after a warm-up and instruction period, a short kickline routine will be performed at 12:30 p.m. to “Kick Off” National Dance Week. The celebration has grown to attract over 300 dancers throughout central PA in 2007 and it is hoped that total will be topped for this year. Holly Evans, a member of the world famous Radio City Music Hall “Rockettes”, is the event’s official Regional Spokesperson. All students, teachers and families are welcome. Immediately following the performance, the dancers attend master class workshops conducted by international, national and local choreographers in jazz/hip hop, tap and lyrical at the Harrisburg Hilton and Towers in downtown Harrisburg.
The Capitol Kickline performance is a FREE event open to dancers of all ages. There is a nominal registration fee for those participating in the workshops held during the day. A complimentary giveaway will be presented to those who register by April 15, 2008.

The famous Metropolitan Dance Theatre will present a sneak preview of their upcoming concert in Houston and American Academy of Dance perform under the direction of Angela Jackson. Dance-related displays will be available for viewing at local libraries, bookstores, and schools; a dance related book and media drive to benefit Kitsap Regional Library and a dancewear and shoe drive to benefit Pacific Northwest Ballet’s Dance Chance program and other dance scholarship programs will be ongoing throughout NDW. Coontributions may be made at collection boxes located in area dance studios, local schools, and all NDW events. Angelina Ballerina® story times will be held at local libraries and bookstores and a Benefit Performance will be held on Sunday, May 4, at 5 p.m., at the Admiral Theatre in Bremerton, proceeds from which will benefit both the Admiral Theatre Foundation and Scholarships for needful area dance students.
