Introducing Nancy Stone

Nancy Stone brings all the charm and grace of a true Southern Belle and Lady to her role as National Chairperson for NDW. Hers is an exquisite presence and graceful persona that enchants everyone she meets. Those Georgia roots are immediately evident in her honey-suckle drawl and quiet charm but there's a wealth of other talents and tremendous strength behind that beautiful face. She can manage a staff with a kid glove touch added to the skill of a drill sergeant. Her flair for design and rare talent blend beautifully with her sense of dedication and loyalty, all of which prepare her well for the many roles she undertakes today.

Having owned and operated a successful dance studio since 1961, Nancy has a keen eye for quality dance education and business, as well. When she married Art Stone in 1977, she was a natural to join him in the many dance venues that he so skillfully has developed in his lifetime, following the traditions originally set by his father, Jules Stone. Nancy quickly worked her way up to where she is, today, functioning as Vice-President of Dance Olympus/Danceamerica and International Dance Challenge. She also serves as the Creative and Technical Director for Art Stone/The Competitor and is Vice-President of Art Stone Theatrical companies. Her other endeavors include serving on the Board of Dancers Responding to Aids (DRA), as well as the Advisory Board of Dance Spirit magazine. Nancy and her husband, Arthur, were the recipients of the 2002 Preservation of our Heritage - American Dance Award as well as the 2002 Arts Management Enterprise Award presented to them by the Ann Lacy School of American Dance and Theatre Arts Management at Oklahoma City University. These accolades and acknowledgements are an echo of the tremendous respect and admiration the entire dance education and business communities in America have for this fine woman and NDW is proud she agrees to the continuing role of leading our annual celebrations.
