Roni Mahler is a former ballerina who performed principal roles with American Ballet Theatre and the National BAllet of Washington D.C., after beginning her career as a teenager with the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo. Here, in her native New York City, Roni is currently a permanent member of the dance faculty at The Julliard School and teaches open adult classes at Ballet Academy East. She also continues to consult for and perform with Dennis Nahat’s Ballet San Jose in California.
For the past fifteen years, Roni has been a Specialty Presenter at the Rancho La Puerta Spa in Mexico, the sister venue of California’s well-known Golden Door Spa and Resort. Her annual two-week engagements have successfully “spread the gospel” of her uniqu3e brand of fitness, to the delight of guests and staff alike.
As a certified Pilates instructor, Ms Mahler is the creator of “Ballet Movement for the Athlete”, a program she customized for the Cleveland Browns football team. She has also produced and appeared in a stretch video to improve flexibility and range of motion and three ballet instructional videos.
As Director of Dance at Kansas State University, Ms Mahler was the initiator the Dance degree program at that institution and Kansas State has since built a brand new Roni Mahler Dance Studio and present an annual award in her name.
Among her favorite credits, however, is the Ballet Spectacular Roni choreographed at New York’s City Center which starred Cynthia Gregory and Fernando Bujones. Her ballet CDs are used for dance class accompaniment in studios and schools throughout the world as she continues to spread her talents generously to all students of The Dance. This vivacious woman is a vital and vibrant part of the American dance scene and as such, bears the title of National Dance Week 2008’s Education Spokesperson with all the honor that’s due her and her achievements.
